マクダウェル初録音
１９０４年生まれのブルースマン、フレッド・マクダウェルの家に1959年に研究家アラン・ロマックスが尋ねて来て行なった初録音。ミシシッピ北部の最高のカントリー・ブルースが記録された。コレを機に彼は多くのスタジオ・レコーディングやアメリカ国内・ヨーロッパ・ツアーに出たのであった。十八番のナンバーがズラリ。アフリカ起源のリズムと魂のスライド・ギターが凄い。数曲で奥さんや友人も参加するがほぼアコースティック・ギターの弾き語り。美しい。
